DR. KEITH S. HILLIARD, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Hilliard enjoys his local roots as a 1994 graduate of IUP in Biology/ Pre-Optometry. In 1998, he graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry with a Doctor of Optometry degree. Dr. Hilliard completed his training with honors at Philadelphia’s Eye Institute and J.F.K. Memorial hospital, and the VA Medical center of Manchester, New Hampshire. Recently, Dr. Hilliard has completed Fellowship within the esteemed American Academy of Optometry. The letters FAAO (Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry) after an Optometrist’s name signifies to colleagues and patients that rigorous qualifications for fellowship have been met. Less than 10% of practicing Optometrists are fellows of the academy.

Besides being in private practice, Dr. Hilliard is also on clinical staff at TLC Laser Eye Centers in Pittsburgh, PA. He has been with TLC since 2000 and serves as a part time clinical director and also served on their clinical advisory committee. Dr. Hilliard is also the attending Optometrist for Indian Haven, Beacon Manner and St. Andrew’s nursing facilities.

Dr. Hilliard is also active in optometric education. He and Dr. Tarnoff are preceptors and adjunct faculty of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. They teach fourth year optometric students through 3-5 month clinical rotations in their Indiana office. Dr. Hilliard also lectures for CIBA Vision, the world’s second largest eye care company, Alcon, an ophthalmic pharmaceutical company and for TLC Laser Eye Centers. He is currently writing a book on LASIK eye surgery as a guide for patients that are interested in the surgery. Dr. Hilliard is also a founding partner of Pennsylvania Optometric Partnership for Progress (POPP), a group of young optometrists that gather bi-annually to discuss important issues facing the profession.

Dr. Hilliard and his wife Traci have local roots in Indiana County and are delighted to raise their family in this dynamic, family oriented community. They have two beautiful children, Nicolas and Melina, and they are very active in their children’s lives as well as within the community. Dr. Hilliard is a past board member of the Indiana County YMCA, past president and current member of Better Business Breakfast of Indiana, Indiana County Blind Association and eye care advisor for Indiana County Head Start where they perform free vision screenings yearly. He is also a member of the American Optometric Association, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry. Traci is a former board member of the Indiana County Guidance Center and former member of the Indiana and Armstrong County Drug and Alcohol Commission.
